Shangri-La Valley Wing , a revisit

The last time we were at the Valley Wing was 4 and a half years ago. (Click here to read that post, OMG when I saw the kids' photos, they've changed so much. They were just toddlers then)

As expected the check in process for the Valley Wing is flawless, and quick. No long queues or waits, they know you're arriving and are prepared to meet you with seamless perfection from the moment you set foot in their lobby. We went on Mother's day weekend, and they presented me with a gift of Orchids (even though it was just a couple's staycay for us without our kids), very nice touch.
The rooms haven't changed at all.
Which may suit many people, I mean it's still luxurious and classy, but I found it a bit tired, not to my taste.
But of course, I understand that it's their signature look... just like how Raffles Hotel on Beach road has that old world luxury look which hasn't changed.
It's definitely spacious and comfy.
Oooh one update, they have Dyson hair dryers now. First time I'm using it, damn ... it's good.
Oh and now their water is in paper cartons, and it's infused with oxygen or something, it tastes extra nice. Not sure why... just so crisp and clean. mmm.
And of course, the summit room did not disappoint. From the service to their food and drink, all inclusive.... I was sooooooo looking forward to this. LOVED IT.
I still love their freshly baked hot scones with their velvety rich clotted cream. So good, I can cry.
Just with my bubba, while our kids stayed at Grandparent's home. So we could drink and be merry (with kids, I limit myself to one or two glasses, because I need to be sober to focus on their care). Bubba enjoying his Amaretto...
And some other cocktail... plus champagne... tried every cocktail on the menu hee hee.
I stuck to champagne and then switched to whisky on the rocks after (they have a decent list of Whiskeys).
This was breakfast.... mmmm.... I had the steak (years ago, I had the same steak, topped with foie gras, but this time no foie gras on the menu).
So soft, and succulent.
I also had the egg confit with caviar. Hello, how indulgent was the breakfast. This beats any club access offering of any other hotel (with the exception of Intercontinental in Danang, which was out of this world, click here to read my post on that one.)
Just a one night stay but we had time to go to the pool.... then eat eat and drink drink drink...
and use the gym...

MJ and Myla had a good time with my parents too, they went for a nice meal with Godpa (my brother) and Auntie Juan too. But next staycation we will bring the kids along, I got separation anxiety and guilt, lol.

Valley Wing Vs. Raffles Sentosa? I think Valley Wing for the Summit room service, the canapes, the free flow champagne and all those inclusive perks. This time we paid around $800 a night, very well worth every penny because the food and drink that's included with that price is top notch. We could easily spend that amount on a date night's dinner and drinks! So to get a luxurious staycation out of it, is a win!

But with the kids, definitely Raffles Sentosa for the spacious villa with pool, unbelievably comfy bed (feels like heaven), their first class, pretty much bespoke  service. I prefer the Raffles Sentosa villa deco/set up because it's ultra modern, classy and sophisticated, I'm not one for the old world bougie lots of marble and ornate trim kind of luxury, neither am I appreciative of like Bali chic kind of deco. But Raffles Sentosa is significantly pricier at close to 2k a night (If I remember correctly. Click here to read that post).

I feel that if you can afford to splurge a little, then have a luxurious staycation in Singapore instead of yet another budget overseas regional trip to like Bangkok, it will cost the same $ overall because no need to pay for the budget flights. You've done Vietnam / Bali / Bangkok / Malaysia on the cheap. Now, go experience a whole different world in terms of unmatched luxury where every detail is curated to perfection... go for either Raffles Sentosa or Shangri-La Valley Wing. Better still, aim to do both.
