Mandarin Oriental Staycation

Mandarin Oriental
$468 per night (includes buffet)
[$368 after using $100 SG Rediscovers voucher]

Last weekend, we went for a staycation at Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It was marketed as a National Day type staycation because the rooms for this package faced Marina Bay, giving guests a view of the parade on the floating platform as well as the fireworks.

Unfortunately, because of the last minute restrictions imposed (because of the sudden increase of Covid cases), National Day has been postponed, and the rehearsal (and fireworks!) we would have gotten to watch last weekend, was postponed too.   :(. We were given the option of postponing our staycation, but decided to just go ahead with it.
Check in was a breeze. We got early check in at 11am. No queues.
Our room was spacious and comfortable for us and our 2 little ones. We all slept on this one king sized bed.
The bathroom has both a tub as well as a shower area.
Amenities provided was pretty basic though, nothing impressive. (Compared to Shangri-la ‘s Valley Wing who provided Mustella toiletries for our kids even!).
They did have a couple of complimentary drinks which tasted really good.
But really, the key aspect of this place, is the view. The beautiful view of our Marina bay.
Their pool is lovely too because you get that same city scape view in your horizon as you swim.
You will need to pre book your pool slots (limited to 1 hour a day only. Maybe this restriction will be relaxed once the Covid cases reduce in a few weeks).
But the good thing is, with such caps on capacity, the pool won’t be crowded during your session. That’s Myla and Adamson in the deep end and MJ in the shallows.
There are plenty of day beds, and lounge chairs. But because from now until August something (don’t remember which day cos the Govt keeps changing it!) there’s no dining out… so no poolside drinks or snacks available :/
Part of our package for this staycation included a buffet at Melt. Which I (and probably Myla too lol) was really looking forward to. But kwa kwa kwa. No dining at restaurant allowed now. So it got changed to in room dining.
But they did do a decent job of bringing the “buffet” to us. Below the table that they wheeled in, was a warmer cabinet with many of the buffet dishes. More then enough food to fill us up.
Lobster, grilled meats, chilli crab, etc.
Myla had a super glorious time lol. (MJ is not a foodie).

That night after the kids slept, Adamson and I got greedy and we ordered satay via Grab food. So convenient. Of course there’s always room service if you prefer, but we were craving satay.
Apart from the pool, the gym and spa are also open. But to keep the kids engaged, we took them for a walk around the Bay instead of staying in room. It’s their first time seeing the Merlion etc. So precious.
And as a special treat, they got to sleep late that night so they could enjoy the splendid night view from the comfort of the room. They hardly get to see the world at night because their bedtime is 6.30pm Hahhaa. So they were super appreciative and it was such a treat.

Thanks bubba for planning this special weekend for our family. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did :)
