It's the 3rd and final leg of our journey, and this evening we fly from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh city. Superb holiday so far... but we've been travelling and living out of our suitcases for weeks now and for this last destination, we still want a place that's in a great location where all the action is in a bustling city... but we also long for the comforts and spaciousness of home.
We decided on the 1-bedroom executive apartment for our 1 week stay. It's 60 sqm / 646 sq ft, and has a bedroom, dining area, living area, bathroom, balcony and kitchen. Really looking forward to that after living in cramped hotel rooms.
I've been poking around on the internet to find out more. Happy to discover that we can walk to the Notre Dame Cathedral, Botanical Gardens... and the Saigon Zoo! I found all this out through their FB app- Around our Residences .
This application is like a mash up of Facebook and Google Maps. Ascott and travelers share useful tips and the unique finds one can discover within the vicinity of the Ascott serviced residence. It provides expatriates and travelers with local insights to help them navigate the city during their stay.
I'm going to use this app to find out all the local haunts, shopping deals, FOODDDDD and bars near where we're staying. And maybe find a supermarket so I can cook, might as well, since I'll have my own fully equipped kitchen in the apartment. Good thing is there's free Wifi in the serviced residences, so I can use this app while I'm there. And update you guys too :)
p/s- I'll post pics on the go. You can check them out. I'll hashtag them- @ascott_ltd #SomersetServicedResidence #HCMcity #Ascott :)
A few days ago, we booked our accommodation for Ho Chi Min city via The Ascott online. The Ascott has 3 brands around the world in over 70 cities - Ascott, Citadines and Somerset properties. I always thought serviced apartments were only for expats who stay for months... but nope! They are available for short holidays too just like a hotel.
I was impressed with the wide variety of options available and very pleased that the site was user-friendly, the information was clear and the booking process was convenient. After browsing our numerous options for Ho Chi Minh, we chose Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh City.
It's located within the city’ prime commercial and major shopping districts. It has 172 serviced apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom. Each is fully furnished with an open kitchen concept, contemporary western style decor and large balcony.
Here are some pics of the place I saw online. Very modern, and cosy at the same time. Ohhh I can't wait to get there!!! Counting down the hours...
They also have an Airport transfer service, so no hassle of trying to haggle for a taxi outside the airport and no worries about getting lost on our first evening in Ho Chi Minh. I'm loving the convenience already!
