Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh City

For the Saigon leg of our trip, we chose to stay at the Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh City for 6 nights. It's a service apartment but like a hotel, it's available for short stays as well.
As soon as we stepped out of the airport, we were greeted by our driver who was there to pick us up, it's their airport transfer service.
Convenient, no hassle and a very pleasant ride to our serviced apartment.
The ride from the airport to Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh City was less than 30 minutes.

The check-in process was fast, the staff are very professional and speak excellent English. It was a great fuss-free start to our week in Ho Chi Minh.
When we saw our one bedroom apartment. Oh my! We were so impressed, it was better than we have expected. And we had high expectations to begin with! So beautiful and spacious, I can only imagine what their 2 and 3 bedroom apartments must be like.
Large living area which opens out to a large balcony. It has an office/work area, home entertainment system, sofa, armchair and dining area. The whole apartment was wifi enabled and best of all... no extra charges for the internet.
A little welcome gift... and coffee/tea sachets replenished daily by housekeeping. Just like a hotel, housekeeping cleans the apartment, changes the bedsheets and towels.
There's a modern and large open concept kitchen with a cooker hob, oven, microwave and fridge. This kitchen is larger and better equipped than my own kitchen at home :( . (I want!!)
We did cook a few meals in that kitchen whenever we were too lazy to go out or the weather was bad. It's had all the pots and pans and utensils that you would need.
It truly was like having a home away from home. Minus the cleaning up bit... lol... because housekeeping does it for you.
The bedroom was my favourite part of the apartment. The bed was comfortable, pillows were just right. And when we shut the curtains and the sliding doors (which leads out to a balcony), the room was pitch black and ultra quiet. Perfect for a good night's sleep.
There's also a large wardrobe and a safe. So I could unpack all our stuff and store the empty suitcases in the laundry room.
Our balcony had a nice view of the city around us and the pool. Ho Chi Minh is a busy and loud city... but within our apartment, and from the view we got... everything was relaxing and tranquil.
The bathroom was clean and bright.
Loads of cabinet space for my toiletries.
And if you didn't pack your own, they also provide disposable toothbrushes, razors, combs, etc for your stay...
Having a laundry room (next to our bathroom) was convenient. I managed to wash, dry and iron all our dirty laundry from Hong Kong and Hanoi. Yay... clean clothes to wear, and also much less laundry for me to do after our holiday ends.
It was nice to be able to iron my dresses instead of wearing it all crumpled straight from the suitcase. Also a bonus not having to pay for hotel laundry services (haha).
Apart from the pool which is especially inviting in the cool Saigon evenings, this residence has many other facilities.
Such as a billiard table...
A good gym that has ample space and equipment so there's no need to wait for a machine if you want to exercise.
There's a playroom for children too. And all these facilities are free for the residents and guests at Somerset Chancellor Court Ho Chi Minh.
On the ground floor in this building there is a mini mart. Very convenient for snacks and drinks (and it wasn't over-priced)... this is also where we bought groceries to cook meals in our apartment.

A buffet breakfast was provided every morning at the Highland's Cafe in the building.
Yummmm... some days I had the whole bacon, sausages and eggs treatment... and other days I chose to go light with cereal and yoghurt. After filling our tummies, we were off to explore the city. Being in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh, Somerset Chancellor Court is within walking distance to many tourist attractions.

I used the Around our Residences app on facebook which offered many suggestions on what to do in the area. Show you what we got up to in the next post! :)

Look really cosy like a condo but better! Haha I love that mini mart thingy and the rates seems pretty good for such a huge place and services.
