Compartmentalise Your Problems

I realise that I have this habit... whenever I have something that makes me sad, or a problem.... I like to deal with it straight away... but if I cannot do anything about it at that point.. I will mentally extract that problem.. put it neatly in a little white cardboard box, and just put it aside.

There are even little compartments in my head where I shelf all these boxes. And I function pretty effectively once I compartmentalise. I just caught myself doing it again last night because something was bugging me and I could not get to sleep. I put it in a box... put it away....then fell fast asleep only to be awoken by my husband kissing the top of my head before he left for work. And I was like.. it's morning already!? That was a DEEP sleep (usually I wake up while he's getting ready for work).

The thing is... I have little white boxes in my head that I haven't opened for years.

Do you compartmentalise your worries/problems/things you can't deal with?

  1. How i deal with problems is i compartmentalise my money in the shopping mall cash register. After that i'm happier.

Wow, that actually seems like an awesome way to handle problems. I do it like this: blame the world, sink into self-pity and self-loathe, repeat 2-step process until worn out and until I eventually forget. Yep.

  4. I don't have the habit of compartmentalising things.. I just try to forget. But the idea of putting them in a box is quite interesting! Gotta give it a try the next time. :)
