Last week, I wrote Things Girls Don't Know About Sex in my weekly Love column on MyfatPocket.com

Since then there have been requests for the version for men... so I've thought long and hard about it.. and here's my list of Things Guys Don't Know About Sex. (Do add on in the comments section if I have left anything out!)

Guys, no matter how big your ego, .. or penis..., no matter how many notches on your bedpost, here are the things I bet you didn't know about sex!

1. Women want you to make noise

Yes, you know women can fake orgasms. That's not new. But did you know that almost all

women turn up the volume when they do orgasm? For instance, the orgasm curls her toes and makes her feel like ohh, but she curls her toes and gives out an OHHH! This is because she knows you like it. She isn't faking it, but simply embellishing.

It would be nice if men would do the same instead of pretending to be all macho and stoic.... get a little more verbal and show us that you're enjoying it by groaning and moaning too.

2. Stamina is extremely Overrated!

Sure, pre-mature ejaculators are the butt of sex jokes, and in movies like American Pie. Some of us women have even been unfortunate enough to have been with men who orgasmed as soon as he got his pants off. But just because we would like sex to last more than 12 seconds does not mean that longer is better.

If you can keep thrusting and pumping for more than 45 minutes without coming, you're no superman... you're boring man. Plus, the vagina can't keep lubricating itself, no matter how wet you got her in the first place. So after an hour, chances are, she's sore, and just putting up with it!

One of my close girlfriends dated a guy like that once, we called him the Two Hour Man *said in super hero tone of voice* ( but not a compliment).

3. Breasts can hurt

... like a kick in the balls.

So don't use all your strength to squeeze her boobs. Nipples can get very sensitive at different times of the month too, or after an orgasm, so twisting and biting down hard on them is not appreciated.

The only exception is when she TELLS you to squeeze her boobs or suck on her nipples harder. Some times our bodies crave that and then weirdly enough, it doesn't hurt us.

4. Falling asleep after sex doesn't make you an asshole

When you orgasm, your body releases chemicals which makes you sleepy. Plus, exertion during sex depletes the muscles of glycogen (which produces energy), which leads to sleepiness. Men have more muscle mass than women, so they’re generally sleepier after sex.

Still, women won't listen to this bullshit science, so your best bet is either- toothpick your eyes open, or pull her close in a snuggle as you sleep so she still feels loved.

5. Your penis reflects your health

If you can't get a hard on or keep a hard on, then you might have arterial problems, diabetes, or kidney diseases. It may also be caused by fatigue or psychological factors.

Transcab Driver is a Cheat + Was Vulgar

I flew back to Singapore at 1.40 in the morning today. Our Jet Star flight was delayed, David and I took separate cabs so he could get straight home to sleep instead of detouring and dropping me off first (he had to wake up for work at 6).

I know that taxi drivers have to queue up at the taxi ranks and they want to have a long ride instead of taking passengers close by to places like Pasir ris, Tampines, Changi. That's why I always tip them generously, over and above the surcharge that all passengers (regardless of how close of far a destination) will have to pay.

As I wheeled my luggage to a red transcab, the driver, all smiling, takes my bag from me. As he was putting it into the boot, I told him I was going to Pasir ris.

He tells me angrily, "Alamak you, Taiko lah. Kapala Bhutoh you!"

And slams my bag into the boot. I don't know what Taiko is. I think Bhutoh means cock/penis.

I am an idiot. I should have got out of the cab immediately. But I didn't. Then I suddenly thought, OMG, I better have small change for this guy because he's going to shout at me again if he has to break a $50.

I looked into my wallet, and saw plenty of tens, so no problem, then I look at the meter, and noticed, the surcharge was $9 plus. This was just barely 30 seconds of being in the taxi.

I thought it was strange, but I didn't pursue the matter. He was driving very rough and fast. Obviously pissed off with me living in Pasir ris. Then a call comes in, he speaks on the phone (handsfree), and he speaks loudly, but in Chinese (maybe a dialect), and all I could recognise was - Hijack, Pasir ris, nabei, Cha bo, Bhutoh.

When coming off the expressway, he shouts impatiently, "Exit where!?"

By this time, I had already taken down his license plate number ( SHD 46 C, red Transcab ) .

When I got back (whole drive was barely 5 minutes). The fare came up to $6.70, plus the surcharge and midnight charge it was a total of $17.20 . I suspect I have been cheated at the initial starting point when the starting surcharge was already $9plus.

(I asked David later on how much the starting surcharge in his cab was, he said $4.80. )

Anyway, I gave him $20, and said he could keep the change. I did not get a thank you, he was still just pissed off, didn't bother to get out of the cab to get my luggage out (but I was expecting that he wouldn't help anyway)

As I exited the cab, I left my passenger door open, because quite frankly, I felt like he would just drive off before I can fully get my heavy luggage out of the boot. So I thought if the passenger door is opened, he can't drive off.

Then When I got my luggage out of the boot, instead of shutting the boot and the passenger side door, I just felt like.. WTF, he's so rude to me, cheated me, I let him keep the change, and yet he is still so hostile towards me. He can shut his own damn doors.

So I just left.

As I got into the lift, I could hear him slamming the doors shut.

I got home, and lodged a complaint with Transcab. The staff said that I would get a response in 7 - 1o days. That's a long while. But I don't mind, as long as they really look into it and not sweep it under the rug.

I've never been in such a hostile situation before... but I wish I had stood my ground sooner. I wish I had got out of the cab that very moment when he scolded me with vulgarities instead of putting up with that shit. Also, why am I such an idiot? I should have asked him to verify the surcharge.... and made a fuss about it.. instead of letting him keep the change some more. I was just too shocked and scared

Whatever, I hope I never see this asshole driver again.

Also... now I am scared to take taxi from airport!!

I'm with True Fitness!

On 17 January, the True Group launched its newest Fitness Centre in Tampines. Bianca and I just got memberships with True Fitness and we're psyched to get fit this year. True Fitness has 7 branches all over Singapore (Suntec, VivoCity, Parkway Parade, China Square Central, Great World City, Chevron House and Tampines Junction) so we have not excuses not to get to a gym this year.

I love the new Tampines branch!! It is located on the 8th Floor of the NTUC Income Tampines Junction Building. It's over 24,000 sq feet in size and has a Muay Thai ring, hot yoga studio, a group exercise studio as well as a spinning studio.

There was a Muay Thai demonstration during the opening event and it was awesome.

Can't wait to try out some muay thai classes. They're launching Muay Thai Group Exercise classes at the Muay Thai ring in February this year. Yay!!

And a roundhouse kick competition where the audience were challenged to see who could do the most kicks in 1 minute.

The Tampines branch also offers more than a whopping 150 classes a week. Bianca and I went for the Zumba class on Wednesday.

Everyone is doing Zumba nowadays... seems to be the most happening way to get fit now. It was our very first Zumba class... and oh boy do I have 2 left feet. The moves in Zumba is like a mixture of latin and african beats. Super energetic and loads of fun.

The facility, is spacious and there is ample machines for everyone.

And the changing rooms are fab!

There are over 600 lockers for men and women as well as steam rooms where members can relax before and after sessions.

OMG! I got to meet Keagan Kang, Jourdan Lee and Paul Foster, the celebrities who use True Fitness gyms in Singapore! They were there for the opening launch as well. Super drool worthy! lol

Paul ( from Polo Boys and Deal or No Deal) is so friendly, in fact they all are.

Thailand- It's Not Service, It's Servitude

I've been in Phuket a week now... and my 2nd holiday of 2012 is already ending soon.

Just a quick thought I want to share with you.

I love Thailand, and I've had many fantastic holidays here. Love it because you get more bang for your buck, food, drinks, etc are much cheaper here. But people have also called Thailand the land of smiles... and commend the Thais on excellent hospitality and service.

But I've only just come to realise one thing.. it's not really service, it's servitude. It's like they have an innate sense of duty and service... especially towards white people.

It is also a rather sexist (possibly racist?? read my experience below) country.

When we arrived at the airport and booked a taxi, we wheeled our baggage out of the airport

toward the taxis. And immediately... the driver comes forward and takes my fiancé 's bag. Great service eh? No no.. wait a minute? What about my bag?

We both had equal sized bags. In most other non third worldly countries I've been to, I the bell boy, driver, etc always reaches for the woman's bag first, before helping the man out with his.

Of course, my fiancé, being the gentleman that he is, turns to me and takes my bag. It's not a problem. But definitely something to think about...

Then when we arrive at our hotel, I check in while David nips outside for a smoke. While I was filling in the details on a registration sort of form, the receptionist lady stops me abruptly and points out to David (who is outside smoking) and says that HE must fill it in.

I am puzzled. Why can't I fill in my details (because I am a woman or because I am asian)? I then tell her that the credit card used to book this room is under MY name.

And then she says with heavy Thai droning and punctuation, " You ShOw Meee".

So I take out my credit card, she checks and they payment for the room is indeed under my credit card.

"ok ok"

And I was given the go ahead to fill the form out. No apologies. Nothing. Wtf man.

Everytime my fiancé or other white men walk past... they bow their heads so fast, their necks might snap.

Of course, this new realisation of mine isn't going to stop me from coming back... it's still a lovely country to visit. But yeah.. I wouldn't really say it's service with a smile, when it's really a sense of servitude. When I see it blatantly happening in front on my eyes, makes me wonder - Why you so like that?

P/s - Last trip we stayed at Royal Phuket Yacht Club in Naiharn, best ever in my opinion. But it's high season now, all the nice places in Niaharn and Kata were fully booked. We're staying at Le Piman on Rawai beach. It's nice. Only 16 Villas and a nice pool. And cheap too (approx $80 + a night). But the pillows SUCK BIG TIME. My neck is so sore. It's like they cut up an old t- shirt into 5 bits, then scrunched those bits and put it in a pillow case. Absolutely NOT kidding. I've been to cheaper hotels in Malaysia and also in Hong Kong recently (on my last night there this month, I stayed in a $80 room in Tsing Yi and pillow was comfy!)

Update: 27 Jan 1.36 pm

I flew back early this morning. Have to say, that other than that first shitty encounter during check in, the hotel staff were very polite to me. So it may have been a one off thing during check in, or it may be they started treating me better as they realised the villa was getting paid through my credit card. Dunnoe. But they were good though...porter even carried my bag on my way out (did they read my post?!).

I am in love with the new NIKON J1. (Retails at SGD 899)

It comes in 5 colours! I super love the pink one! I tested the white one out with 7 other bloggers, a couple of weeks ago. We had a field day out and about Singapore with the Taiwanese PKgirls. The PK girls are famous for planking all over Asia.

A great way to learn about a new camera is to get your hands on it and use it. The Nikon J1 is absolutely beginner friendly and easy to use. Below are a few of my favourite still images taken within the first few hours of getting my hands on the Nikon J1.

My very first shot was of the silver J1. The J1 has a stylishly sleek and slim body. It is so compact that it fits in the palm of your hand. You can kit it out with different lenses. I used the pancake lens (ultra thin 1 NIKKOR 10mm f/2.8 wide angle).
This little camera produced high image quality that really impressed me. The colours it picked up were very vibrant and intense. It makes still objects come alive.
I used the camera on auto mode and it was able to focus automatically on subjects to give a macro shot. This gives a picture depth and dimension... effortlessly. The camera does all the work automatically.

I love how the NIKON J1 isn't huge or pretentious looking like a regular DSLR. And taking photos in low light conditions is easy, the Nikon J1 needed no exposure compensation for this shot. It gave just the effect I wanted. But if you prefer more exposure, you can easily adjust the ISO or use the pop up flash.

I also got a chance to test out their Video Mode. It can shoot regular videos with sound, like any other camera, but the Nikon J1 is so versatile, you can even snap photos while recording movies.

What really sets the Nikon J1 apart from all the rest is the Slow Movie function. The slow movie function shoots footage in extreme slow motion for dramatic effect.

Here's a sample I took of the PKgirls twirling. This mode captures their Sarees fluttering through the air as they twirl. You'll be surprised to know that the actual twirl was only a few seconds long! But in this mode, it is stretched so you can appreciate moments that would otherwise be lost in a blink of an eye.

It's also fun to do action shots in this mode. In this video above, I am jumping over the PKgirls while they are planking. This function gives the jump that extra bit of drama and style.

There's still so many things I want to tell you about this camera. In my next post, I'll share with you more about it's other functions like smart photo selector and continuous shooting (at 60 frames PER SECOND!).

Hong Kong Disneyland and the NEW Toy Story Land!

I spent 2 wonderful days at the Hong Kong Disneyland park with my brother.

A 1 Day entry ticket is HKD399 (approx SGD65) per adult (12 -64 yrs old), HKD285 per child and HKD100 per senior citizen. A 2 Day entry ticket is HKD499 per adult, HKD370 per child and HKD170 per senior citizen.

The first thing you feel when you step off the free shuttle bus (or the MTR) is that you're in a different world. A world of happiness and adventure. You can hear the music and excitement as you walk up to the park... I couldn't stop smiling.

If I felt that excited approaching Disneyland Park... imagine how kids would feel?!

The first area you step into is Main Street, USA. It's like stepping into a world of the past. Old school busses and automobiles plie these streets and you can hop on for a ride.

The buildings are not just props but actual functional buildings. You have a bakery, cafes, a jewellery shop, boutiques and an emporium too!

The Flights of Fantasy Parade

At 3.30pm, the Flights of Fantasy Parade came down Main Street U.S.A. You can check out parade schedules, show timings and character greeting sessions in the Times Guide pamphlets available in the park and Disney hotels.

It was delightful to see all my favourite Disney characters come dancing down Main Street.

Toy Story, Lilo & Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Book and of course the Disney Princesses were a big hit with the girls.

It was a good half hour of music and dancing... spirits were high and all the cast members, Disney characters and elaborate floats were so awesome. Plus, the chilly Hong Kong weather was perfect for a parade too, not hot or humid.

Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land is the newest area in the park. It is Asia Exclusive.

Everything in Toy Story Land is giant sized, from the blades of grass to the toys.. so you feel like a tiny toy, stepping into Andy's backyard. See that orange U-shaped thing in the background? That's their star ride, the RC Racer!

There are three new rides in this attraction. The Slinky Dog Spin is a mild roller coaster which makes you feel like you're actually riding a slinky dog and it's bounding through Andy's back yard, yapping away as you hold on to it.

The Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is a 25 metre parachute drop. You get a great view of the park while you're up there waiting to be plunge down.

Here's a video of me experiencing this ride. It's just the right amount of exhilaration without being too scary or vomit inducing (!).

The RC Racer is the scariest one. That's me deciding if I should go on it.

No, I did not flip this picture! This gravity defying ride goes almost vertical as the racer car that you're in goes racing up and down the track.

Scary!!!! I had my eyes closed most of the ride. But it's so fun and adrenalin pumping that after you're done, you just want to go back for more!

FANTASYLAND

You know you're approaching FANTASYLAND when you see the magical castle. Walk through the castle gates and you're transported into a realm of fantasy.

In FANTASYLAND, there's the iconic Dumbo the flying elephant rides and the Cinderella Carousel.

The Cinderella Carousel is huge, it's beautifully lit up and has 60 graceful, prancing horses.

Explore FANTASYLAND and you will find The Golden Mickeys!

This is a Broadway style theatre with a huge stage.

The show was narrated by the host, Bebe, in Catonese, with English and Mandarin subtitles on the side screens. All the songs were performed in English.

It was a live musical revue type of stage show. It was very grand with all the characters from Disney dressed up to perform their song and dance.

They spared no expense in creating wonderfully elaborate and beautiful stage settings and props too. The show included aerial acrobatics, fire works, martial arts and puppetry too. It was such a memorable experience.

Another enchanting ride in FANTASYLAND is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

You sit in a little Hunny Pot and travel to Hundred Acre Wood .

It's a life sized story book journey with Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and friends.

TOMORROWLAND

This is where you step into the future. There's the Space Mountain attraction which is a high speed indoor roller coaster, Orbitron where you can pilot your own flying saucer and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters which is an interactive adventure.

Adventureland

Adventureland is a journey into the remote jungles.

You can visit Tarzan's treehouse via a raft. Tarzan's tree house is also circled by the Jungle River Cruise.

The Jungle River Cruise simulates a real riverboat cruise down major rivers of Asia, Africa and South America.

The skipper of the boat is also your tour guide. There are three languages available English, Cantonese and Mandarin. There are different queues for each language so you get into different boats based on your preference.

On this cruise, you come across giant cobras, elephants, hippos and even speed through native territory as they shoot spears and poison arrows at you.

'Disney in the Stars' Fireworks!

At the end of the day, head back down to Main Street and you will find that it has transformed. All lit up at night, it has a warm atmosphere (even though it was below 10 degrees in Hong Kong when we were there!).

People stroll down Main Street at night, and then find a nice spot in front of the Castle because there is a magical fireworks display at the end of each day. It's fireworks, music and lights combined to celebrate a wonderful day at Disneyland.

Hong Kong Disneyland - Getting there & Staying There

Getting There...

My brother and I flew from Singapore to Hong Kong in just a little over 3 hours.

Last time I visited Hong Hong and stayed in town and I took the Airport Express (train). The Airport express costs approx 80HKD per person. But since Disneyland is so close to the airport, my brother and I hopped into a taxi and the fare came up to 120HKD (that's about SGD20).

We had 2 nights at Disney's Hollywood Hotel. Which is one of 2 Hotels at Disneyland. The other Hotel is the Disneyland Hotel but it was already fully booked.
Disney's Hollywood Hotel has a retro + Mickey Mouse theme. It feels like you're blasted back into Hollywood circa the 50s or 60s. In the time of JFK and Marilyn Monroe.

Our room was on the 9th floor. And it had unobstructed views of the hotel grounds and the sea.

The first thing that struck me about this twin room was that it had 2 big beds instead of just 2 single beds. It's a family sized room, perfect for couples with young children.

It has all the comforts and amenities one would expect of a 4Star hotel. From bedroom slippers to hair dryer.

And their toiletrie kit comes in a cute reusable Disney packaging!

In addition to all that, I was surprised to find little bits of cuteness all around my room... like face towels wrapped up to be the Little Green Man.

Both hotels and of course Disneyland Park itself has shops where you can find anything and everything Disney.This is the Toy Story shuttle bus in front of the Disneyland Hotel. The whole place is like one giant utopian resort. You can easily travel between the hotels and Disneyland Park via the free shuttle bus so you never feel limited when it comes to places to eat!

Here are the places I have eaten at...

Buffet Breakfast at Enchanted garden

This restaurant is the the Disneyland Hotel. Its set up is truly enchanting. It has glass ceilings and beautiful white pillars. Eating here really makes one feel like they're in a fairy tale land.
The buffet spread is great. You have chinese and western selections, and plenty of fruit and fresh juices.
The pancake and waffles are Mickey Mouse shaped.
I filled my plate with my favourite sausages, bacon and eggs first, and then went back to try the other stuff.

The highlight of having breakfast at the Enchanted Garden has to be meeting the Disney characters. Mickey Mouse, Daisy Duck and Pluto made an appearance when i was having breakfast.
There's no need to rush or queue to see them, they go to every table. I love Pluto, he's so playful!

Buffet Breakfast at Chef Mickey

The next day's breakfast was at Chef Mickey, which is at Disney's Hollywood hotel itself. It was a more casual setting than the Enchanted Garden.

They had a good selection of food including sausages, bacon and eggs, and dim sum but this time I decided to have some Indian curries and popadums instead.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus

Crystal Lotus is a Chinese restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. It serves yummy dim sum and Chinese cuisine.

The first dish was a Pomelo Salad with Smoked Duck Breast.
Followed by a Disney Special Dim Sum platter. Cuteness!! There's Little Green Men Pork and Vegetable bun, Three Little Pigs Barbecue Pork Bun and Mickey Mouse seafood glutinous pancake.
Braised Conpoy and Fish Maw Soup with Chives. Yummy! Like sharks' fins, only much less sinful. :)
Wok-Fried Shrimps, Young Vegetables and Cashews. The shrimps were so plump and delicious.Sweet and Sour Chicken with Peach. I love the sweet and sour tangy taste and the chicken was tender.

Diced Chicken and Preserved Vegetables Fried Rice. By this point, I was already very full.. but I kept eating because it was too tempting!

Lastly, we were served the "Duffy" Steamed Lotus and Red Bean buns. I was wondering who "Duffy" was until I saw him in the Disney Gift shop. Oh! That's Duffy!! :D

Main Street Corner Cafe

In the Disneyland Park itself there are many many places to eat too. You have carts selling popcorn, drinks and candy, you have food court styled places, burger places and you also have many themed restaurants.

The Main Street Corner Cafe, as the name suggests, is at the corner of Main Street in the Disneyland park. It is a quaint little bistro that's very busy... ... after looking at their menu, I know why they're so busy! Pastas, steaks, seafood! Yum! Both my brother and I had the Surf & Turf (HKD285) which consisted of a small 5 ounce tenderloin, and half a grilled lobster with holandaise sauce. It was the tastiest lobster I've ever ever ever eaten!For dessert, I shared the Cheesecake Trio with my brother. They were creamy and light. My favourite was the mango cheesecake.

Walt's Cafe

On our last night at Disneyland, we were treated to a special evening at Walt's Cafe, in Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. Walt's Cafe is exudes an exclusive and posh charm with its warm lighting, dark wood floors and furniture.

The set dinner that we had consisted of 4 courses, starting with a Marinated Scallop and Artichoke Salad with Parmesan Shavings. I love Scallops, this was the first time I was eating it prepared this way. It was very flavourful.

Next was the Porcini Mushroom Soup with Truffle Aroma Cream. Mmmm... there was a strong and rich taste and smell of truffles. The soup was nice and creamy with generous chunks of mushroom in it.

For my main course, I had the Pan Fried Cod Fillet with Miso Crab Roe Sauce and foam of Champagne and Mini Eggplant, Cherry Tomatoes and Pumpkin Puree.

My brother chose a different main course. His was the Slow-Roasted Supreme of Guinea Fowl on a Rosemary Sauce and Red Current Jam with Braised Savoy Cabbage, Almond Potato. I pinched a bit of his food, ohhh, guinea fowl is so succulent!

And for dessert, the Rosemary Almond Apple Tart with Creme Brulee Ice Cream. I love Creme Brulee! So I was delighted to have it as an ice cream flavour. This dessert is definitely for those with a sweet tooth.

A nice relaxing dinner with my brother was the perfect end to our day which was jam packed with adventure and fun in Disneyland.

The MTR - Disneyland Station

The next morning, we checked out of our hotel and took the shuttle bus to the MTR station at Disneyland Park. It cost us HKD13 each to get the MTR to Tung Chung (Citygate). I love the ride from Disneyland to Sunny Bay station (where we change to the Tung Chung line). The Disneyland train has plush comfy seats and it has Mickey Mouse shaped windows and hand grips. Oh so cute!My next Disneyland post coming right up is all about the park and it's many attractions!!

The Post That Should Have Been (My Proposal)

I was so ill on Christmas eve right up to New Year's eve that I did not say the things I wanted to tell you regarding David's proposal. And then I was away in Hong Kong, and busy with events and this wednesday I will be in Phuket for a week.... I haven't had time to just let it all sink in yet.

So here is the post that should have been....

(24th December 2011)

Dear Readers,

Today, I fell ill. I must not have looked very good and I did not want to go out either.

It was 4pm in the evening. I usually unwrap my presents at night on the eve of Christmas. But since I was feeling poorly, I decided to do it a few hours earlier than usual.

David got me 2 gift bags. In the first one, there was lingerie. In the second bag, there was PINK flanel Paul Frank PJs with Julius monkey prints all over!!! Me being me... I went straight to the bathroom to put on my new Pink PJs!! They were so cute!

I was happy as a pig in shit.

When I got back to the table, I realised I hadn't taken my next dose of Panadol. So I got a glass of water, popped one pill. I have to take pills one at a time. Before I could take the second one, David comes out of the spare bedroom and says something like "Are you ready for it?" (I forgot exactly what he said... I mean... I didn't know it was going to be my proposal! Otherwise I would have paid more attention to everything that went on!)

I had no idea what he was talking about.

Then came the question- Will you marry me?

Half of me thought he was joking ( background story later in this post)... the other half of me went - OMG OMG OMG I think it's really happening!

Then I said stupid things like , " For real, baby?" "Is it for real???"

And when I saw his hand reach into his pocket, and a familiar little red box popped out.... I knew.

Of course my answer was Yes.

After sending out the news to our family and closest friends, we celebrated with some champagne. Just the two of us.

Background story is... months ago, while I was lying on his chest, on the couch watching TV one afternoon, he very suddenly looked at me, dead in the eyes and said, " Marry me?"

I remember this moment vividly. It was the one moment where my heart felt like it was going to burst because I was so happy.

But on the outside, I was calm. I don't know why I hid my emotions from him, it was quite silly of me. Then he said let's go get your ring and that he would propose to me properly after getting the ring.

When he went to get changed to go out, I remember wanting to text Bianca to say - He Proposed!!! But then I decided it was best not to. I'm accustomed to my life being quite jinxed. You know whenever I am happy, life always throws a curve ball and finds some way to fuck it up.

So I told no one. I was so happy inside but I was afraid to tell anyone (not even my family.. let alone my blog readers) because I was afraid I would ruin it.

Anyway, I did not see a ring I liked at the mall that day. There were nice ones... but too elaborate... I wanted a classic solitaire, small carat but very good clarity and colour. (Nothing worse than seeing a yellow tinge on your diamond when you put it next to a better quality one!).

So we decided that we wouldn't rush buying the ring, and we would keep looking. I think we looked around (on weekends) for about a month before we found it.

We were at a jewellers, and the guy was attending to me as I was trying on a few rings. David was in the chair next to me, and he pointed to this solitaire and said, "try that one".

The guy took it out, I put it on. It was love at first sight. It shined brilliantly yet it wasn't too showy nor too mad expensive (I rather spend the money on the honeymoon, or on our new home), and the band was tapered and thin... just what I was looking for. It took about a week to get it made smaller. David collected the ring... but he did not propose.

He said that he would surprise me.

That first month... every time we went out for dinner... I would think... is this it?? Is this it?? I even thought he might do it on my birthday while we were still in Scotland. But no...

There was once we were having curry at an Indian restaurant back in Singapore, and suddenly there was a black out.... there was only light from the little candles on each table. He got up and pretended to go down on one knee... then laughed at said he was kidding... the asshole. lol.

I mentioned that wow.. it would be a great idea if it were the real proposal and he had got the management to black the lights out just for it.

Anyway, by the second month...I stopped anticipating. I stopped checking the sock drawer (where he kept the ring), and I even stopped wondering - when??

In the third month, which was December, he took me back to the Indian curry restaurant. And I REALLY thought he was going to propose then... because it would make great sense. To re-create that black out scene and then get down on one knee.. only this time, it wouldn't be a joke.

At the end of the dinner, I realised it wasn't going to happen that evening either, and I was slightly disappointed. I think women all have dreams about how proposals should be like... and the reality is... most of us don't get that.

I actually don't like people asking me the question- So how did he propose??? Cos my answer is - Oh, at his house on Christmas eve, while I was in my PJs at 4pm and taking Panadol.

Not exactly fireworks or Romeo & Juliet now... is it....

(Actually, the reason I remember that my proposal happened at about 4pm that evening was because I rang my cousin Olivia to tell her, and she asked "How did he propose?" and I said while I was in my PJs... and she exclaimed,"why are you wearing pajamas at 4pm in the evening?!!")

So yeah, despite this long rambling post... I actually don't have a proposal story to tell. What I have are the special moments I've had leading up to this proposal. From that moment my heart almost burst with happiness when he first asked me and the month long search for the right ring... to the three months after where he would periodically joke and pretend he was proposing and even the moments when I was silently disappointed that it hadn't happened.

When I think of my life right now, I am happy. I am happy because I know I am not settling. But I am finally settling down.

When you settle, it means you haven’t found what you’re looking for, but you have decided to stop looking for it. Settling down, however, is finally finding the person you've been looking for and feeling this great sense of content.

No mountains were moved for this proposal, but to me, today truly was a fairy tale,

PICK Toy Digital Camera from FilmSnap. Retails at :SGD $108

I love the way it looks... a cheery yellow that's just bright as bananas... (it also comes in other colours... red... blue... green.. loads more)

And it's a teeny weeny toy camera.. just slightly bigger than a thumbdrive. It can hold up to 16GB microSD card. Below are some samples of photos I took with my PICK camera at Disneyland over the weekend...

In outdoor lighting, it works best, and can capture good colours.

Pretty clear pics of faces, however, the camera does not have a screen or a viewfinder so you have to get used to that. You might end up cropping things out of the photo by accident when you snap close ups... but that's all part of the fun and experimenting. Just takes practice.

The shutter speed is not very fast... so I click and hold the camera still for a couple seconds for the best results. Especially if the object is moving... like during this Disney parade.

This is me using the PICK camera on the Jungle River Cruise...

And here's the exact picture I took with the PICK camera in the moment above... :)

It's an easy camera to use... while I would not rely on it solely for documenting important occasions like a wedding or something... I would definitely keep it in my handbag, or hang it on my keyring to take with me where ever I go... It's a toy digital camera perfect for fun and surprises.

Uploading the photos is easy as it has a direct USB output on the side of the camera.

Of course, picture quality wise.. don't expect it to match the ones from your DSLR.. but bear in mind also that this little baby probably weighs about the same as your DSLR's lens cap!

Bad Tempered Girlfriends!

I have a friend (can't tell you who) whose girlfriend has a unreasonable temper. One day, she was throwing a tantrum about wanting to go somewhere else, but he wanted to stay a while longer (we were all having dinner). Then it turned into an argument and she tossed a ring (not engagement ring, it's a normal ring he bought for her birthday present) in his face. HIS FACE. It bloody hit him on his right cheek *DONGZ* and bounced off onto the floor... everyone felt so embarrassed for him.

You see, the thing about us women is… we perfume the pig. If we have a bad temper (or anything bad for that matter), we’re not going to show it to you when we are just begining to get acquainted.

Sure you can do silly things like- turn up very late for your first date, to see if she erupts. But realistically, who in their right mind would test the water like that and seriously risk ruining the relationship because you come across as a loser?

So the sad truth is boys, if she does have a nasty temper, you’re probably not going to find that out until a few months down the road and you’re in too deep. *smirk*

What I can help you out with here though… is How to Deal With Bad Tempered Girlfriends!

A girlfriend’s temper usually indicates that she wants to have control over you and the relationship. First thing you have to do is set boundaries. A lot of guys are so blinded by new love or lust that they over look the bad things their girlfriends do. They ignore the nasty stuff and focus on the good stuff. But if you let her get her way when she throws tantrums, then one day, when you suddenly don’t give in, you’re in for a big surprise my friend.

Often the first bad temper tantrum is where the boundaries should be set. Flat out say, “hey, I really like you but this behaviour is unacceptable. I will not tolerate it. I am willing to listen to you but I cannot be with someone who throws a fit.”

Once a bad tempered girlfriend realizes there is a consequence to their temper, they tend to curb their behaviour if the relationship means anything to them.

If you are further into a relationship and she’s always been having temper eruptions, then this is a little harder to change because her behaviour was allowed before so why should it stop now? She will think it is OK, because she has done this before and after she cools down, everything will go back to normal.

What you can do in this instance is pack a bag for the night and leave! Go to a friends house for the evening and let her think about her behaviour. Or if you’re out on a date, then end the date. Do not patronize her behaviour. This only gives her the green light to behave like this again and again. If you constantly accept negative behavior there is no incentive for her to change.
Give it a few months and if things still don’t change, then she may not be the one for you.

Bad tempers lead to bad arguments. As the arguments continue over time, they get worse. So just save yourself the trouble and back away from this relationship. No man has to put up with this, just like no woman has to put up with bad temper from a man.

Alternatively, you could just spend your whole life jumping around like a dumb spider to appease her. Plenty of men do that!

It's 20 Freaking 12

Happy New Year everyone.

Sorry for the lack of blogposts over the past week. I've been ill since Christmas eve. Started out as a sore throat and fever. Then after 3 days, no more sore throat or fever but my face swelled up. Doctor has no idea why. Maybe allergy to medication, maybe the chinese herbal tea I drank (supposed to be good for throat), or maybe I've just overworked myself leading up to the Christmas break.

Went out on New Year's eve not feeling 100%, woke up feeling worse. But today.. today I am on the mend. Feeling much better.

As many of you have guessed, I am engaged now. He proposed on Christmas eve. I was in my pink paul frank PJs, opening my presents and he suddenly popped the question. :)

p/s- It will probably be a year end wedding... but will the world end on 21st Dec 2012 as predicted? I don't want a wedding while there's like earthquakes and tsunamis and nuclear meltdowns happening :(

I'm Off To Disneyland!

I'm packing my bags again, the new year 2012 is going to be a fabulous one with many travels and celebrations too. First up in the first weekend of the new year, I'm off to Hong Kong Disneyland!

And the perfect person to take along on this fun weekend getaway is my very own brother. Our very first Disneyland experience was over 17 years ago in LA. (Back then, our dress sense was erm... disgusting. Lol.)

Looking back at our photos makes us excited about this upcoming trip. Everyone remembers their favourite childhood cartoons and magical Disney moments.

Hong Kong Disneyland is only a few hours away from Singapore. We are flying there on Friday 6th January. We're also planning to squeeze in lots of good food and shopping into our weekend in HongKong.

Toy Story Land is now open at Disneyland, it's the first in Asia. It's like playtime in Andy's backyard where everything is giant sized and you are toy sized. There's also a rollercoaster ride called RC racer which I am looking forward to!

Love My Hair!

This is especially important because I just did a digital perm a month ago... and if I go to some place where they do not know what they're doing, I will likely damage my hair permanently.

After the Soft Straightening, I also had the Nano Keratine Treatment, which I LOVEEEEE.

Nano meanning ultra tiny particles. Hair is made up of Keratin and adding nano Keratin to hair will thicken and even repair damaged parts of the hair. This treatment makes my hair smoother and stronger too.

And they finished my visit off with a herbal ginseng scalp treatment to keep dandruff away. This red lamp helps to calm my sensitive scalp and aids the repair process. It has helped my scalp remarkably ever since I first had this treatment 2 months ago. I'm glad I don't flake now!
Here's the end result... it's smooth, shiny and straight.

I know many of you prefer the curls (my boyfriend included), but I am just a fuss free, straight hair kind of girl. Still, it was fun to have curls for a while, no regrets. :)

Ohhhh... what a way to spend the holidays.

I have a sore throat, and on-off fever... since Xmas eve night. The fever gets so hot sometimes, it feels like my piss is boiling. I kid you not. But I hate going to doctors. Not much of a fever today. Just painful throat. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be 100%!

Then I can share some news with you. I don't feel like talking about it until I am well. It's to do with not having a boyfriend anymore. Full story soon, I promise. You're welcome to guess what happened... ahhh...but no prizes...... the story of my life eh?

Today I'm reviewing the Aura Beauty Set from Maquillage Shiseido, Color Riche lipsticks from L’Oréal Paris and the Glamabox monthly sets.

The new Aura Beauty gift set from the Maquillage range is Gorgeous! I was so delighted when I opened up this gift from Shiseido!

The compact has 8 different shades. It can be used on the eyes, cheeks, and also as a highlighter.

Or I can use the "grinder" which comes in this set to create loose powder to pat onto my whole face.

I use this mostly as a face powder, and highlighter and blusher. I don't think the green and purple hues make strong enough eye colours for me. The powder is very fine, and makes my skin feel soft and smell expensive (no kidding. Go smell it yourself!)

This set also has a flat mirror which opens up as a standing mirror and it covers all angles of your face. Perfect for make up!

I also adore the bag that comes with this set. So elegant and it has compatments inside to house all the pieces of this Aura Beauty set.

From left to right: Intense range- Magnetic Coral 373, Sparkling Amethyst 287. Natural range- Sensual Rose 379, Sienna 237 and Velvet Rose 378.In this pic I am wearing Velvet Rose 378. It's a light and natural shade. Even though the lipstick itself looks like it's a matte colour, it is actually quite glossy and very emolient. This is Sparkling Amethyst 287. It is just as glossy but has added fine sprakles in the lipstick itself. This helps reflect light. The colours from the intense range are indeed impactful. Today I want to share with you products I love from the White C and Moisture Lift range.

Being exposed to the sun for extended periods will result in dark spots and dryness. The Freshel White C range takes care of this problem by providing an effective solution with its ―Instant Penetration, Moisturising and Whitening formula.

White C Whitening Lotion (M) AA

This lotion softens and pentrates my skin very quickly. It has penetrating vitamin C which is an active whitening ingredient, adhesive collagen and an alpha hydroxy acid mixture.

It is applied after cleansing. You can use your palm or a cotton pad. I prefer using a cotton pad as it's less messy and I feel it also helps exfoliate my skin in a gentle way. This product leaves my skin feeling plump because it has moisturising properties and does not strip away moisture from my skin.
Don't forget to get into the creases like around the nose area, use both sides of the cotton pad, and sweep it across your neck too. The brightening effect of this lotion is immediate, I saw the difference from the very first application.

White C Whitening Essence Cream

This whitening essence delivers active ingredients (penetrating Vitamin C) directly to the source of dark spots. It inhibits the formation of melanin to prevent dark spots while adhesive collagen moisturises, softens and lifts up old keratin, the cause of spots.

For targeted treatment of any blemishes, freckles or dark spots on my face, the special nozzle allows for precise application directly onto my skin.
Then I will gently spread any excess essence over my cheeks and nose area, with my fingertips. The product is effective and also gentle on the skin as it is fragrance free and has no artificial colouring.

White C W Cream UV

This is a moisturising cream and make up base with UV protection.
It is not clear or white, but actually has a skin coloured tone. The texture is light and non-greasy.
To spread this evenly, I place a little on 5 points of my face ( Forehead, both cheeks, nose and chin).
Then I use my fingertips to gently, quickly and lightly spread the cream all over my face and neck. It is light enough for the eye area too. The cream spreads easily and adheres well to the skin.
It gives a light, dewey and luminous finish. You can follow up with your foundation, but I find that this UV cream on its own provides enough coverage so I usually do not use foundation or powder after.
Freshel's multifunctional skincare range perfect for women looking for a fuss-free beauty regime. Just pencil in my eyebrows, put on mascara, blusher, lipgloss ... and I'm done!

I love the other range just as much too. The Moisture Lift range is perfect for those in need of an extra boost of hydration. My skin gets dehydratred from travel and late nights working on the computer.

Here are my 3 star products from the Moisture Lift range.
Moisture Lift Moisture Soap- Cleanser
You should never apply any cleanser directly to your face, you should always lather it up first. I test for good lather by turning it upside down, if it holds and does not drip, then the consistency is perfect. However, good lather is not easy to do.
Great thing is, you will always get perfect lather with this product as it instantly creates such a soft lather which feels so pampering on fatigued skin. Just press to dispense lather!It removes pore-clogging dirt, blackheads, and dullness. My skin does not feel tight after using this because of the adhesive collagen and hyaluronic acid in it for added nourishment. If your cleanser leaves your skin feeling "squeaky" clean, that means it is too harsh and has stripped your skin of precious moisture! Try this cleanser and feel the difference.

Moist Lift Milk (Ex Moist) N
I use this after cleansing and toning. It's a very fluid moisturiser, and it gets absorbed by my skin very quickly. I find this especially useful in the day time before putting on my make up.

I just pour out a small amount (about 2cm in diameter) onto my palm and rub both hands together before using both hands to apply this milk all over my face. It has Hyaluronic acid, adhesive collagen and silk essence to moisturise my skin. Plus yeast extract which softens the keratin in my skin, this is vital in order to allow my skin to absorb all the hydration this milk provides.

Moist Lift Cream (Ex Moist) N
I use this cream as my night time moisturiser. It has all the same key ingredients as the milk but it is a little heavier. I use a clean fingertip to swipe out a small amount (never double dip or return any cream back into the pot!). Then I spread it all over my face using my fingertips to pat in the cream. Remember to spread the excess all over your neck and chest area as these areas are prone to aging and drying out too.
This is good for those who have drier skin. When I travel and am more prone to dehydrated skin, I use this cream after lotion (toner) and emulsion (milk) application. It doesn't feel thick or uncomfortable. When I wake up, my skin feels supple and soft.

It truly doesn't take hours and tonnes of make up to look fresh faced. All it takes is some sleep and help from Freshel's White C and Moisture Lift range. :)

Firstly, I apologise for using the term Ang Moh. I don't like it. It translates to mean- Red Hair. But, not all white people are Gingers (thank god). So, although it's quite inaccurate to label all White people Ang Moh, it's widely used in Singapore to refer to any White person. Hence my title for this post..

So here goes... Hey You, Ang Moh in Singapore...

- When it comes to tanning, build it up a little bit at a time. There's a healthy tanned look... and then there's looking like you dived into a pool of acid.

- Don't whinge about the crowds, or the cost of housing and cars. It's a densely populated, small country. Did you think you were moving to Greenland? (also, it is your presence here that is adding to the country's high density and cost)

- It's a big faux pas to insinuate/ joke/ assume that all Asians know Kung Fu or love Durian or speak Singlish.

- We don't care for your comparisons between our country and yours. Don't run around here enjoying low tax, higher pay, low crime rates, and then turn around and bitch about how "controlled" or "boring" Singapore is. We're not exactly twisting your arm here.

- Knowing a couple of Mandarin phrases does not mean you know the language. So as not to embarrass or offend you, we pretend to be amused, when we all really wish you would just shut up. It's not cute or impressive. There's only so many accented Xie Xie Nis and Ni Hao Mahs that we can tolerate from you. And I'm not even Chinese!

- Don't speak Singlish lah. It is annoying and you sound like a dufus. Don't just add Lahs to your sentences when it's not supposed to be there.

The large influx of PRC Chinese into Singapore has created increasing friction between local Singaporeans and the PRC Chinese.

Please note that in this post, I may not be referring to your China wife/GF/good friend/colleague, so there's no need to get indignant and try to defend them.

Just like when people talk about the traits of ugly Singaporeans rushing for a seat on the MRT or whatever, I don't go screaming.. "Screw you! not every Singaporean is like that!!"

If you are PRC (or a lover/admirer of one), and you don't behave this way, then this is not addressed to you and you don't need to feel threatened. But...I'm sure you cannot honestly deny that you do quite often see these annoying traits displayed by the PRC here in Singapore..?

- In most cultures, it is rude to talk loudly in public. Whether you're on the phone, eating at a food court or chatting to a friend in the MRT or lift, there's no need to shout. We don't want to eavesdrop. Plus, to people who don't understand Chinese, you sound like a big plastic bag of metal forks and spoons falling down the stairs.

- Don't spit on the ground in my country. The floors here aren't made of dirt. Concrete won't absorb your spit. Plus it's unhygienic and unsightly!

- If you are going to work in the service industry answering my calls, driving a taxi or taking my food order, learn to bloody speak simple English! Sorry, but you are not in China. When in Rome... you know the drill.

- Shower EVERY morning before you get on that train with me. You do sweat and ooze impurities through your pores as you sleep at night. We all do. Plus, PRC guys, bed hair is not attractive.

- If you're a woman, shave your armpits or wear sleeved tops. exposing scraggly spider legs everytime you lift your arm can put people off their meals.

- Squat on the toilet seats if you must. Whatever you do in there is your business, I'm not going to tell you how to use the loo. But have the decency to clean up after yourself! Leave no shoe print on the seat or pool of piss on floor. Flush and then double flush if you have to.

- STOP cycling like the freaking Grand Prix. Try doing that shit on the main road instead of bullying the pedestrians. If you cycle on the pavement, don't go full speed and twang on your shitty bell expecting us to jump onto the grass verge in 2 seconds. It is dangerous. Plus, one day you will get someone who has had enough of this bullshit and (hopefully) swing a bag in your face as you ride past.

- Don't be so smug about China's achievements. You do have your shortcomings. Yes, kudos to your country on all those Olympic medals... and maybe some of you do better than local students when you're doing a short engineering stint at NUS. But at what cost?

Lastly, please don't pass yourself off as Singaporean when you act like a village monkey doing all the things mentioned above. You're giving us a bad rep!

What's This Slut Walk Nonsense?

A few days ago, I went to Stomp to look for news on some drug bust my BF was telling me about. I didn't find any, but instead I saw photos of the Slut Walk in Singapore.

The protest march originally started in Toronto, Canada, after a police officer said that women could avoid being raped by not dressing like 'sluts'.

First... I think the police officer made a flippant remark. Stop dressing like sluts and you won't get raped. This is nonsense. How come children and old people get raped too then?

But if you're not happy with the officer's remark, put pressure on the police, ask him/her to retract what he/she said. Taking to the streets in an indignant protest isn't going to help solve anything. It won't lessen the number of rape cases.

Plus, encouraging women to just dress however "sluttish" they want to is definitely not going to help lessen the number of rape cases, I am sure.

If I got raped (*touch wood*).... whether people go around spreading the word that dressing like a slut doesn't mean I am to be blamed or not.... will not make me feel better! Fuck you, I was raped, bitch. Don't go around parading like you're some kind of martyr for a great cause.

Also, why are you calling this the SLUT WALK? By definition, a Slut is -

" pejorative term applied to an individual who is considered to have loose sexual morals or who is sexually promiscuous."

Dressing sexy does not make one a slut. Just like wearing nerdy glasses does not make you intelligent.

Ok, I understand why in Toronto where this Slut walk movement started, Women marched in their underwear with the word 'slut' painted on their bodies. It's attention grabbing. It's to shock people into paying attention. Just like PETA messages with naked people etc.

But the Slut walk here.. people turned up in regular clothes because -"The idea was not to vamp it up, because women can get raped regardless of what they are wearing," said co-organiser Vanessa Ho.

Huh? What's this?

So what's the point of this whole event? So boring. No impact. Not something that people will be talking about for months to come (well, not in a good way at least). The response is lukewarm at best. And the message? I'm not sure what it was...

yes, give those flyers out girl... spread the message!

Hmmm.....

My message to my readers is it is not the woman's fault for getting raped, but don't make yourself an easy victim.

I will dress as sexily as I want to. But if I feel unsafe, or will be in a place I don't feel secure in, either I won't go there or I will take necessary precautions (e.g. be escorted) and dress more conservatively. This is common sense. I will dress based on my common sense, regardless of whatever movement, or whatever some police officer said (probably without much thought) in freaking TORONTO. Get a life!

I went to the media launch of Payless Shoesource last Tuesday... yes, this American retailer of shoes and accessories is now in Singapore, at Changi City Point (Expo MRT), #01-04/05.

This is actually the 3rd store (other 2 in Suntec and Centrepoint). But it was my first Payless experience ever.

It's a one stop store for the whole family (they have a men's range, and an awesome kids range too). They have a wide selection of modern looks at very affordable prices, including exclusive designs by Christian Siriano for Payless (winner of Project Runway Season 4).

Shopping at Payless is a breeze as the shoes are arranged by sizes and displayed neatly on shelves, so that one glance, shoppers can see what are the designs available in his or her sizes. Go mad just trying on shoe after shoe at the aisle of your size!

I got this electric blue suede wedges for about $30! Nice ah. :) I also bought a pink gingham clutch there (pic on my FB wall).

I am going shoe mad at the moment... I feel like I want every pair I see at Xquisis.com and at Payless! Go see if it tickles your lemming bone too.

Being Virgin Again

Revirginisation. Have you heard of it?

It is when a person is a born again virgin. Basically it is making a commitment to purposely withhold sex until a later time, usually until marriage. Of course, the time spent in abstinance has to be intentional and considerably long, at least one year for it to be considered a revirginisation.

You cannot just skip sex for a month, or be unlucky a go through a dry phase because no one wants to be with you.... and consider yourself revirginised.

Maybe it is indeed impossible to get virginity back, but it's not impossible to decide to start over fresh. I think it's great to decide to wait until the right moment with the right person before deciding to have sex again.

What do you think of revirginisation? Would you ever try it?(or already have tried it!)

The secret to building a fabulous wardrobe is to always be on the lookout for blogshops that launch regularly and have styles that you like. And every couple of weeks, you treat yourself to a few pieces you like... work within your budget (not dfficult, considering that blogshops are affordably priced). It's a whole lot better than going to a mall and blowing hundreds of dollars at one go and then be stuck with that wardrobe the whole damn year.

Should Men Play Hard To Get?

If you like the girl, then -NO. Because Love is not a giant game.

Years ago, I met Mr X. After a couple of pleasant dates, Mr X gets too busy. The 3rd date never comes. Which is fine. I was single, I had other options when it came to men... so I explored those instead. But on and on.. he plays the hot cold game.. one moment keen (sending suggestive text messages, planning great dates), the next moment aloof and unavailable.

Then.. I just lost interest in him. Party's over. F-Off.

But everytime I am in a relationship... Mr X never fails to try to pop himself right back into the picture. He starts calling, emailing, SMSing, Facebooking me.... All keen and unabashedly interested.

I've been having him bug me for weeks and then disappear for months... It's been happening for a few years, so I never gave it much thought anymore. Just a nuisance.

Then 5 months or so ago, I blocked him off Facebook, classified his emails as Spam, and labelled him on my phone as "DON'T ANSWER!"

I have not even given him so much as the time of day over the last few years... yet her never failed to try his luck again and again. The last straw was when he messaged me , "I will never give up."

What? Your sanity?!

I didn't block him because he would jeopardise my relationship. Come on. He's no danger to my relationship. I'm not about to be swept off my feet by Mr X, because now I have someone much better.

But what irks me about men like Mr X is.... why the hell did he play such a childish cat and mouse game... only to realise too late that I was interested at the start and he just needed to be himself.... no need for reverse psychology or other strategies... (he had me at Hello sorta thing, you know).

Women are more likely to be interested in a guy if he has the confidence and assurance to show his interest by not only following up in a timely way, but by extending an invitation to have another date. If you do so, and she declines, then she just didn't like you enough. Full Stop. There's no point playing the game of deception and manipulation in a bid to get a girl to be interested in you. Have some pride guys! :)

If you like a girl, then tell her. If you've fallen in love with her, then show her. If you want to spend your life with her by your side, then make it happen. Otherwise, it is not going to just happen... especially not by concocting some kind of cunning manipulation.

Tell her. Show her. Make it happen. It's a split second moment of vulnerability, and only the very confident, and self assured will expose themselves like this. If you are honest and she pulls away, then she was never meant to be yours. Don't bother with the games.

Don't play hard to get. To any woman with a brain, reverse psychology is for amateurs.

Singha Full Moon Party 2011

The Singha Full Moon Party 2011 last Friday (25th Nov) was absolutely awesome! :)

When the doors opened at 9.30, there was already a long queue of revellers waiting to get in...

By 10pm, the place was jam packed.

When the free flow started... everyone had a Singha in their hand. The bar was kept very very busy.

One of my friends was actually drinking Singha for the first time. (Have you tried it yet?) It wasn't the first time for me, as I've had it on many occasions, the first was in Krabi, Thailand like 7 years ago.

Singhas are smooth...golden... icy cold... and have a great flavour.

And of course, no full moon party is complete without fire! The crowd in the courtyard was enthralled by the fire dancers.

It was a great night, with a great Singha loving crowd at Attica.
Looking forward to the next full moon party... I wonder where Singha will take us to next.

Service Review

Went to Jean Yip Hairdressing again last Thursday to get a perm. Leslie recommended their Super Shine Thermal Curl. It's a digital perm, but the curls are soft and glossy... not stiff and dry like most other perms.

Fed up of my straight hair! But have always been sitting on the fence when it comes to perms... I don't want a head full of curls.

The whole process took about 3 hours. Super Shine Thermal Curl uses a special retexturizing gel. This gel is a milder way to break up bonds in the hair. It also opens up hair cuticles to enable absorption of Nano Keratin.

All rolled up and plugged in to the digital perm machine thingy!!! With the right amount of heat infused, hair becomes permanently mended and coated with nano keratin on the curls, giving it the extra elasticity and shine.

Finishing off with the Super Shine treatment. It uses liposome technology giving the hair even longer lasting effects of luster and curls without excessive chemical perming.

Tadah!!! Super soft, natural looking and shiny curls!! It makes me look more feminine, I feel.

5 Things You Must Not Do In The Bedroom

When you reach a comfortable level with your partner, you no longer hold on to your inhibitions. You may stop caring about looking your absolute best, you may even start farting in bed and pulling a Dutch Oven on your woman (that's when you burry her under the covers after you've farted under them!) but there are certain things one should never do in the bedroom.

5. Pressure
Maybe you want to try a new position or a new adult toy or whatever. You should express your desire to your partner but be prepared that he/she might decline. If your partner declines, let it go. Don’t sulk or try to emotionally manipulate your partner into doing whatever it is you want to do. Not only is it extremely annoying, but it will also make them feel like their opinion isn't valid..

4. Blame
If things do go so smoothly in bed, do not blame your partner, especially when you know it's your own fault. A sincere apology will more likely be met with affection and compassion ... I had a HK bf in the past who had problems getting it up (9 out of 10 times), and he always blamed me for it. After a few months, I realised it was indeed a physical problem and he was probably embarrassed, but instead of being honest, he rather I be made to feel bad about it.

3. Get Rough
The bedroom is no place for aggression. Everything that happens in a couple's bedroom should always be consensual. If your partner seems hesitant, slow down, communicate, make sure you’re on the same page. Boobs are not meant for extreme squeezing... neither are balls.

2. Compare
It is very rude and insensitive to compare your partner with an ex. Under no circumstance should you say things like, "Oh, [insert ex's name] used to do this like that." Guide your partner without comparing with someone else, especially if that someone is an ex girlfriend of yours!

1. Go to Bed Angry
We've heard this one before, and it is true. Couples should never go to bed angry. You should always hash it out and reach some sort of truce before you retire for the night. Not only is going to bed angry unhealthy for your relationship but trying to sleep with an unresolved issue it may difficult! Plus... you'd never know what might happen while you're fast asleep (think Lorena Bobbit)!

Taking Love For Granted?

It doesn't happen over night, it kind of slowly creeps up on you... the more familiar and secure you feel around your partner, the more you tend to take them for granted. Perhaps you don't bother to buy any of their favourite stuff when you shop at the supermarket.

Or you ignore your partner once you have friends around? When you think of going on a holiday, you rather leave your partner behind. Do you no longer appreciate the effort your partner makes to see you, simply because he/she puts in that effort all the time? Do you need to be treated badly in order to learn to be appreciative?

Do you no longer bother to compliment or be affectionate towards your partner? It is human nature to want to feel secure, valued and loved. It is also human nature to be self-centred and get complacent. There are so many ways in which you can take your partner for granted.

What irks me is that people tend to mistreat the ones who love them the most... because they can.

Some people take their anger out on those close to them. Whether they had a bad day at work, or the waiter was rude to them at dinner, or traffic was a nightmare.... who do they get mad at? Their partner!

Very often partners put up with these sort of moods because they love you. but it's not fair. Do this to anyone on the street, and they will punch you in the nose. If you don't take your anger out on strangers you don't care for or even the very people who made you angry, then why would you think it's ok to take it out on those whom you love?

The thing I've experienced in the past, is that once I am not happy in the relationship, I move on. I don't stick around to be treated like shit. It doesn't happen straight away though... different people have varying thresholds and tolerance of shit. But eventually, they will realise enough is enough one day and leave. And I can bet you that if you have been taking them for granted, they will quite quickly feel so fuckin' good and free once they do leave you.

So if you've been taking your partner for granted, and they have not complained yet, please don't get braver. Do not chuck them more shit just because you got away with it a few times. It all adds up. If you know that you're guilty of this bad habit, break it now or you'll be crying over it soon.

Product Review

Today I'm reviewing 3 value for money products from the Boots house brand. It's from the BOOTS ASIA online store.

Bergamot Orange & Olive Body Butter (200ml for S$10.20). This is an all over body moisturiser, best used just after shower.

Verdict: Body butters are not as liquid as lotions and creams. Takes a while to absorb, but not that long. Leaves skin very moisturised. The scent is very light. Does not stink of olive oil (I am wary of products with Olive oil.. although olive oil is great for the skin, I hate the smell of it).

Almond Wheatgerm & Milk Body Wash (200ml for S$7.34 ). This is one of the websites bestsellers. Contains organic almond oil, wheatgerm oil and milk extract.

Verdict: I love the smell... I don't like products with too strong scents. This is a light and kind of milky almond scented. Love it. Leaves my skin feeling cleansed and not stripped of moisture after use.

Boots Avocado & Macadamia Conditioner (300ml at S$3.88). This is a great everyday conditioner at such a low price. I love the natural extracts of Avocado and macadamia because these are ultra moisturising. Remember to use conditioner on your hair ends only, never on your scalp!

Verdict: Smells extremely sweet, like candy. Gives hair a shine after use. Washes off easily, no heavy residue.
