Valentine's Day - A Night In

It's almost Valentine's Day again!
My husband was going to get me a Philips Air Fryer for my Valentine's Day present because I've been on the fence about getting one for some time now. Well, we were going to sort of get it as a joint present for each other haha. But we went to the store and the sales guy (who is also kind of our friend now because we buy all our home stuff from him) ... he kinda talked me out of it. Seems that the food is dry and not as tasty as pan fried stuff. And he said I'm better off just using my oven. Anyone who actually has this machine in your kitchen? What's your honest opinion?

If you're wondering about this joint present thingy... well.... We agreed that we wouldn't buy each other anything for Christmas last year... but then he went out and surprised me with jewellery from Tiffany's. The thought was sweet... but I'm far too practical a person to enjoy such a gift. I don't actually like wearing jewellery, I don't even wear earrings.
Sometimes I think my husband feels that he doesn't give me enough... because most of his friends all buy their girlfriends and wives expensive gifts and shopping sprees. And when they tell me about what they bought, I gush over it. I mean that's expected behaviour right?! It would be rather rude of me to say to the couple, "mehhh... that don't impress me much".

So I stressed after that episode with the freaking expensive and not worth that $ Tiffany's gift.. LET ME PICK THE GIFTS, NO MORE SURPRISES unless it's Free or Cheap. LOL.

I think this Friday, I would like to just eat some Seafood Aglio Olio + cold gassy coke and then cuddle on the sofa to watch Captain Philips at home on MioTv on Demand with a bottle of champagne (we already have a couple of bottles in store in out bombshelter!).

And baby, I don't need you to buy me things... I just want you to love me.

  1. I went to a friend's place once. She "cooked" fries in that damn spaceship. The fries were dry and tasted like cardboard. It is healthy but it tasted like cardboard. BAD babe. Don't buy. We had to eat them all up out of courtesy of course.

My boyfriend buys me expensive impractical things all the time too. And when I tell him I prefer cheaper and more practical things, he ignores me totally and continues to buy me expensive impractical things because the things I want are too "cheap". WHAT?!?! Yup I too appreciate his gesture but...... I just don't know how to get through to him that it's ok to buy cheaper stuff. It's the thought that counts right? Sigh.

  4. BF and GF, along with husbands and wifes should not have to buy their loved ones affection on Valentines day. Anyone who measures love by the price and frequency they recieve gifts, such is a person is very shallow, materialistic and should be avoided at all cost.

My wife and I enjoy our time together one weekends and special days, as we both work long hours during the week.

Valentines day will find us enjoying simple fare. Saturday we celebrate Valentine's day here; http://www.sweetaftontearoom.com/

    Happy Valentine's day,
BTW, here is a little about the real person the day is named after. Yes Saint Valentine is a real person!!

    From: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=159

Valentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith ineffectual, commanded him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270.
