Just wanna share some wedding DIY deco ideas with you :)
A couple of months ago, I bought a plain white medium sized bird cage from Arab Street. I got them in the shop that sells rattan baskets. There is an artificial flower shop around that area which stocks these too, also about the same price (approx $20-$30 for a medium/large cage). I paid $23 for mine.
This is much cheaper (less than half the cost) compared to plain white cages sold in deco stores or flower shops in malls.
Then I popped over to Daiso in Simei (the $2 store) to buy pink organza ribbon and flowers. I wrapped the ribbon around the circumference, tied a bow. Used a bit of bendy wire to secure the flowers onto the top of the bird cage and it's done!Imma gonna have a bird theme to my wedding (I think). So invites/ etc will have this birdcage theme.
Maybe release a couple of doves during the ceremony.
Do you like this cage? Any other ideas?

Quick update: We have decided to drop the initial wedding venue, our guestlist has outgrown that venue's capacity (they can only have 8 tables for dinner). :( But I have my heart set on a similar roof top sunset set up.

LOOK how beautiful our solemnisation at sunset would have been! :( |
But on the other hand... it's David's wedding too and he wants all his friends to be present for it. (No, we can't afford to have a second wedding in the UK after)
(Sincere apologies to my family in Perth who have already made arrangements for 1st Dec. )
Plus, I have already been working on the bird theme.. for this venue.. not even sure if the next venue will suit it or not. Probably have to start at square one again. Never thought I would ever say this, but I am quite tired of all this wedding shit.

Everything sounds lovely! But maybe don't release the doves - they will die after release, as they're not accustomed to feral life. The lucky ones typically get set upon by crows and die fairly quickly, the more unfortunate ones starve to death slowly.
ReplyDeletewhere was your initial location at? its lovely! hope you find something as pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really lovely rooftop location. Can share where this place is?
ReplyDeleteAww don't fret holly I'm sure you'll be able to come up with something as good/ better! Though I agree that you shouldn't release the doves.. Imagine predator birds swooping down before your guests snatching the doves with them:O
ReplyDeleteWill release tht venue details (it is LOVELY) after i confirm and put downpayment for my own venue. Cos if cant get other venue.. we might want to see how we can work with this venue still..
ReplyDeleteSorry, if i release the name now, I am afraid ppl will get interested, and book on the date I might need it! :(
NOted on the Doves! NO doves then! thanks for letting me know
What about the venue that didn't work out? Can share that? Looking for one for my mum and her fiance lah. Thanks holly!
ReplyDeletechill :)
ReplyDeleteit's his & your wedding! he can choose to go ahead with a few of his friends present or choose a date when all his friends can make it. obviously, he chose the latter, nothing to do with friends. it's his decision.
birdcage theme: perhaps it may insinuate after he is married, he will be trapped in the birdcage?! you know how guys like to joke about marriage?! just a random thought that came to my mind when i read your post.
hope you can eventually settled on a date and venue as lovely as the one shown in the post! it's GORGEOUS! :)
Awww so lovely! let me know if you need help or something!
