Happy first of June everyone! I can't believe we're into the middle of this year already!
Last Saturday, my BF and I went to his friend's baby's first birthday BBQ in the afternoon.
I wore a Frilly Chiffon top in a bright Coral colour from Clubcouture and a denim skirt. I (slightly) didn't feel like going for this event because I knew it would be filled with wives (and the husbands they dragged along) and their little kids...
(yes, not every party should be champagne and loud music and dancing on tables... I know that)
But I can't relate to new mothers, I think they're super-pre-occupied with motherhood. I even feel that with my own friends who have just got babies. They're in a different phase of life from me. Not criticising... I would love start my own family... but I think I would do it much differently from what I see around me.
I do like children, don't get me wrong.... but it's nothing like having your own kids. Maybe I am just envious of new mothers....haha
But I am in a good place in life now... so I feel happy.
Yesterday, I went for a short meeting in town, then I went to the supermarket. I was going to cook for my BF. I do it quite often, at least once a week... but it's been more misses than hits so far! ( Last week's steak was horrible! I blame the cheap cuts of meat NTUC sold me... I will never buy steaks there again)
I grilled eggplants. My favourite. Just slice and scour it, then season with salt and pepper and olive oil. Pop into oven for up to 30mins.

My orange dress is from HeyAdonia. It's actually a Marc Jacobs inspired piece. The Marc Jacobs one retails at 600plus, but HeyAdonia has manufactured this piece for only $28. I love the asymetircal hemline, and the bright splash of orange!

HeyAdonia has also manufactured a TopShop Cape inspired piece too. Go check it out.
My Bf is on a healthy diet now. Cos he has to go back to HongKong in 2 weeks for a friend's birthday party (black tie), and he has to fit into his dinner suit. He hasn't tried it on yet...
So in order to help him get in shape, I cannot cook fatty or fried food for him for the next 2 weeks. (Btw, I actually don't think he's fat.)
I made grilled fish, marinated in lemon, butter and dill. Maybe next time I will throw some cream into the marinade, so the sauce will turn out thick.

I wanted to do asparagus instead but the supermarket didn't have the small ones, only the thick old ones.
And roasted garlic bulbs.. yummmmm. This is easy. Just lop off the tops of the garlic bulbs, sprinkle salt and drizzle olive oil on top. Then roast in oven for 30 mins. Before serving, I put a blob of butter on them (it will melt into the garlic immediately.

ReplyDeleteI'm interested in that garlic bulb thing (and the saucer - so cute). It sounds so tasty but in the picture it kindda looks scary and dry (kindda like that horror-nipple picture...dunno if you've seen before!!). Where did you learn how to do it. And actually...how to eat? skin and all ah?
ReplyDeletei think its prawn... cos light coloured with a red rim.

Oh.. I dunnoe, I don't think it's common for someone to go on diet just because they're going to hong kong.
My Bf is frm HK, so he's flying there for his friend's b'dae and then come back to SG the next day. only 2 days (over the weekend).
I'm not going. I have a shoot and a party to attend that same weekend.
oh the garlic bulb- just squeeze it outof the skin, or use a fork to fish it out.
ReplyDeletethe garlic inside is soft and mushy.. just spread on bread, or eat as it is. ( but don't eat the skin!)
