A Note From The Future

Don't be frightened. It's just me, Holly Jean! It's 31st December 2040. I am 60 now.

I just wanted to leave you a note from the future.

Dear Holly Jean,

Having had the benefit of hindsight, here's what I want you to know.

Life. Stop worrying about not knowing what you want to do with your life. There are lots of people your age who don't have a clue either. Relax, in due time you'll figure it out.

Don't listen to all the negativity.

(By the way, you have gorgeous children who have grown up to be good people)

Love. No one's perfect, let him be imperfect. If it's meant to be, it really will be.

The road you're on is going to be a bumpy one. Sometimes you're up. Sometimes you're down. It's ok.

And do not be afraid to take risks. Do not be afraid of obstacles. I promise you that one day, every problem you're facing right now will feel so insignificant.

Friendship. Be careful of who you let into your life. Don't neglect your true friends. They will always be there for you when others seem to go missing in times of need. Keep in touch with those friends in every little way you can.

Lastly, life is sweet. Don't you forget that. Be happy and smile more often. You will find that as you grow older, each year passes more quickly than the last. Cherish every moment.

Have a Happy New Year! Enjoy the romantic Sky Dining on the Flyer tonight (even though you paid too much for it. lol! sucker!).

Love,
You.

P/S- The human race doesn't get wiped out in 2012. And that climate change thing people have been going on about is bullshit too.

Year End Blogger Hat-py Party 2009

Just got home a while ago... I was at the year end blogger Hat-py Party organised by the wonderful peeps of .The venue was the Singapore Arts Museum (SAM)...And the museum has this new hexagon lighting thingy on the facade of the building now...So every few minutes, the projection changes and the building sort of morphs! Soooo pretty :) Great venue for a party, or wedding dinner too ( if you can fit enough tables into the courtyard ....)Dress code was ... as you can guess... Hats! :) My bestfriend N came along with me... Plenty of familiar faces there... mi amigo Krisandro... and Diane had superduper cute Lamb head gear... but I forgot to take pics with her :(The buffet was gooood.. yummy prawns... and tasty baby baked potatoes... but I didn't take pics of the food, sorry, too focused on eating. Some people had really crazy hats... but the winner of the most crazy hat that night went to this girl...

... Viking princess! Her partner (maybe BF) wore the male version, huge ass viking horns.

Then..... I won the 3rd prize in the lucky draw!! ($300 Singtel Vouchers) That's Claudia handing me my prize...and Ben in the background. (Thanks to Krisandro.com for pic above) Smith with the Hershey's Kisses hat won 2nd prize ($500 Singtel vouchers). And someone else won the 1st prize, a phone.

OK.. had a great evening there... but now, it's bed time. When I wake up, I'll write my last post for 2009.

What's The Worst Pain You've Ever Felt?

The question - What's The Worst Pain You've Ever Felt? - came up on the beach the other day.

Everyone loves hearing (and telling) stories of pain.. stories about stubbed toes and broken bones...
But I can't really say that I've ever been in any significant physical pain.

Whether this means I'm blessed, or haven't really lived life, or have a high pain threshold... I don't know... but I have never been in such pain that I'd label it THE WORST I've had.

Yes, my tattoo was painful for the first half hour of the needle piercing the skin on my shoulder blade... but it was bearable.. not like I was screaming and crying or anything... and after the first half hour, the area started to go numb anyway.

My impacted widsom tooth caused me a fever, and swollen jaw while I was in Krabi. But I took a couple of dodgy looking THAI (!!) painkillers and still managed to spend the rest of the holiday canoeing and island hopping even though my tooth kept throbbing.

Those experiences were not so much painful.. but more of a discomfort. I've never had kind of pain that literally makes you go crazy if it doesn't stop, or the kind of pain that brings you to tears. I should be happy that I've never broke my nose, or was a man and got kicked in the balls by Andre The Giant... right? But somehow I feel impoverished.

What about you? What's the worst physical pain you've ever felt?

Phuket The Second Time Round

I actually started this post with some stuff that's been on my mind. But then I logged back on to edit this post and take that part away.

I figured it was a bit too raw and personal actually. Will share more once I've figured stuff out in my head. But meanwhile... don't worry.

Here are some holiday pics....We stayed at the Sheraton Laguna again...
The Winters hosted a Christmas day lunch. Great food.... great company.... it was a great day that ended too soon... The cute elephants are still at the resort, and made an appearance at the Christmas party. I got some new accessories from a sale at SIX ::: and I brought it all up to Phuket. And I did my nails like butterflies and snowflakes. :)Had dinner at a new place called Acqua. Had foie gras again... and yes it was supremely delicious... and no, I will not view any more videos/emails on cruelty to geese, so don't send them to me. Even chickens and cows and whatever else animal you eat aren't having a fab time at the farms and slaughter houses ok...
I wore my new dress to Acqua! Looove this dress! It's a hot pink body con from Club Couture.
I love the colour, the fit, the lace detail and the zip on the back. It's supposed to be my new year's eve dress.. but I couldnt wait. It's the latest from ClubCouture... ELEORA PINK DRESS (click) but if you click and the link doesn't work, means they've sold out.

ClubCouture Fashion Ambassador 2010

Good News! I've chosen my new main wardrobe sponsor for 2010!
I'm now a ClubCouture Fashion Ambassador! *giddy with excitement*

If you remember, I first found out about ClubCouture about 4 months ago when it first hit Singapore (It's an international online fashion label).

This was one of my first outfits from them. And now they've branched out to cover accessories as well! I'm super duper excited to see what this new year has in store for me as one of their Fashion Ambassadors.

(Oh for those of you who hate online retailers who take a long time to process orders... no worries! Delivery is super fast with them, about 3 days only. Woot!).

Here are some more stuff from ClubCouture which I haven't shown you yet. I wanted to link directly to the exact product on their website but I can't because they only list items which are In Stock..... and these items have sold out already! Their stuff are Mad Hot! Paint Splatter Dress. This is my play dress. Has 2 large pockets and asymetrical hem. It's fun looking and so comfy.
My "Love" Necklace... with a bit of bling is from ClubCouture's Accessories collection. Click Here to Check out their accessories. Here's a clearer pic of my necklace... pretty :)And I wore their Monochrome Floral dress to Fred's Christmas party last Thursday. It has an empire waistline, button front at the bust, and the skirt part is pleated... very girly and yet structured and sober enough for a Christmas Party. Show you more stuff soon... and I'll see if we can work out more promos for my readers, as well sponsored stuff for contests held on my blog! Stay tuned for all that :)

Loan Sharks Terrorising My Neighbour

As most of you already know, I live in Pasir ris. I've blogged about my neighbourhood I grew up in.

But about 5 nights ago, (on my way back from Mark's), I noticed some red stains on the walls outside my neighbour's flat. It's like they spilled some paint and tried to clean it off, but it still left a faint mark on the beige walls.

The next morning, I was shocked to see fresh red paint on their walls and door! And the wife was trying to clean it off... but it was really such a big splash of red enamel paint that it seemed inpossible to get rid of. I felt bad and embarrassed for her, so I pretended not to notice and didn't ask prying questions. But it was pretty obvious it was the work of loansharks.
And then.. THAT DAY ITSELF.. surprise surprise, the whole family packed everything onto a lorry and moved out! First I'm wondering... bloody hell.... exactly how much money do they owe these loansharks to the point that they (husband, wife, aged parents, and 2 young kids) have to move out of their home pretty much over night?!
The family no longer lives there. The police have already come by. But the terror continues. Now the loansharks have changed to Black Paint. Our corridors are starting to look like the works of Picasso. And every night, I've been coming home (around midnight), and my heart skips a beat everytime the lift door opens. Afraid that I might bump into them while they're there to collect the debt or paint the walls Fushia or something.
The other neighbour told my mom that the man living there told him that it wasn't him that borrowed money. Apparently, he lost his NRIC card a few weeks ago, and then someone used his NRIC card to borrow money from a loanshark. So it's like not his debt... and yet he's moved out of his own home when he did nothing wrong (?) ... hmmm.... I don't know..... do loansharks just part with big sums of cash simply because you give them ANY identity card as collateral?? After being in this business for decades, they're not THAT stupid right?
Me thinks the neighbours told a lie to save face.
